If we measure your windows, the sizes are our responsibility and a bad fit is our problem to remake. If you measure them yourself you save a visit, and a remake is charged at half the product price — so it is worth doing slowly.
- Use a steel tape measure, not a cloth one. Measure to the nearest 1/8 inch.
- Inside mount: measure the inside width at the top, middle and bottom; enter the narrowest. Measure height at left, center and right; enter the longest.
- Outside mount: measure the area you want covered, adding at least 2 inches on each side and 3 inches above the frame.
- Curtains and tracks: measure the full track length you want, wall to wall or bracket to bracket, and the height from track to floor.
- Note obstructions such as handles, cranks, vents or outlets and enter them in the room label.
- Not sure? Book a free in-home measurement instead — our measurement guarantee then covers the fit.
Before you start
A steel tape, a pencil, and somewhere to write three numbers per window. Do not use a cloth tape: it stretches, and an eighth of an inch is the difference between a curtain that closes and one that does not.
When in doubt
Order a free fabric sample while you measure — it gives you a week to look at the colour in your own light before you commit to anything.

If the window is unusual — a bay, a skylight, an arch, anything above a stairwell — book the free measurement instead. Those are the ones that go wrong.
